Looking for a good web-based email program?

My company uses a web-based program called Horde through our web hosting company. Its extremely generic and not very friendly. What can be our alternatives to a better email system. I have 5 offices within 2 counties that need to access email.

Google is good.
Reply:check out squirrelmail or roundcube, they are both open source and may suite your needs.
Reply:my school uses Zimbra
Reply:Gmail is the best webmail I know. It is reliable as much for individuals as for businesses.
Reply:Mozilla Thunderbird is a good one: http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/th...

:-)

EDIT: This is a pop3 mail service application and will send and receive mail from any ISP, given that you enter in the pop3 and smtp server addresses. It isn't web-based - I misread that bit but surely you could use this?

the problem with web mail is that you do not store the mail on yr machines locally and this can cause all sorts of issues with a small business.

It is always advisable to have a record of all mail transactions between offices and customers!

Reply:I recommend using Google Apps which is good for email, document sharing, etc. You may set up 50 addresses using the free addition and they will be formated as joe@yoursite.com rather than joe@gmail.com

It is very easy to use and fairly simple to set up however you will need to be able to change the cname records for your site address.

With the size of your company I recommend the business addition which offers 25 gb of storage per address and offers a low cost alternative to running email from your own server.

Hope this helps!
