I've heard you can talk over the Internet with a web cam and headset using email. How can I set this up?

You CAN talk with headset and webcam but NOT anything to do with email.

Many of the instant messenger clients have this built it as a thing you can do..it really needs high speed net connect to work right.

This is very easy to do with email, but it might not meet your expectations. Keep in mind that doing this with email will not give you a live, interactive conversation with the other person.

Your camera probably came with video recording software. If not, do a Google search for video software to find a good, free program for this purpose. (If you had specified your operating system, its version, and the brand and model of your camera in your question, I could have made a recommendation.)

Record a video of yourself and save it in a file with a common video format. For simplicity and compatibility reasons, I would suggest the MPEG format.

Next, send email to your friend with the video file as an attachment. When your friend receives it, they can watch the video. Your friend can respond to you using the same method.

Beware of videos with large resolution or long running times. Many mail servers have limits on message sizes, so keep your videos short and as small as you can comfortably view them.
Reply:Windows LiveCall, which is a feature of MSN Messenger, has the ability to do that. You don't really need a headset though, because rather than typing your messages to each other, you record them via the microphone in your web cam.
