My isp hosts my web page - if I move isp would I no longer be able to access my web page or email domain?

You would lose the domain IF it's part of your ISP's set of domains (or perhaps a subdomain). If, however, they registered your own private domain name for you as a part of their service, you could go to another domain registrar like GoDaddy and transfer an existing domain to the new service. From that point onward, your domain would be independent of whatever ISP you are using.

I go to my email page in order to check my email... not to IM and chat with people. I dont like being harassed by everyone who hasnt been able to IM me in the past two years every time I check my email. If I want to chat, I will log on with my real IM program.

If you only have one e-mail account, that is one check (and maybe a download of messages) every 15 minutes. Add any messages you send and the average is about 5-10 uses of the bandwidth in any average hour.
Then you get IM. Every notice how fast messages come to you in IM compared to e-mail? That is because the IM checks each account for new messages every few microseconds. If you have 20 or 30 contacts, that 20-30 uses of the bandwidth every few microseconds just checking for messages. Then add in the time for sending and receiving them. A single IM user can use the same as about same amount of bandwidth as 25-50 e-mail users, are a couple hundred web page surfers. They absolutely can bring a network to a crawl.
Your company is probably correct that if it is allowing an IM program to run that it will slow the response for everything else on their network.

Why is web-based email crashing?
My mum is using Windows 98 and IE to access her Yahoo Mail account. Over the last few months it has started to crash with increasing regularity every time she opens her mail account - using other websites works fine. This happened to her before, using Hotmail - so she switched to Yahoo, which was fine for about two years.
Is this due to some sort of incompatability problem? Does she need to upgrade Windows? Will installing a new browser help?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Not only do they have many treatment options for chronic pain, but they can also put you in touch with pain management support groups. I can't access my web host's webmail and admin tools, so I contacted their tech support. They want me to email them my login%26amp;password. They're a small company with good customer service, and I don't wanna be a douche, but isn't there something against giving away your password to anyone?

If this company is asking you to email them your information then you should seriously considuer going with a different company. If they are this lax with the security then what other areas of security are they lax with? Email is sent in what is known as "clear text" unless you specifically use a program to encrypt it... which means that anyone could intercept the email, you could accidentally send it to the wrong address, etc... etc... plus, it would remain on their servers for anyone to find regardless of whether they themseves deleted it.
If a company I did business with showed this kind of security un-awareness and gross neglect for the security of my information... I would have a serious issue with it as a security professional.

Yahoo email is NOT installed on your system. It is on the Yahoo servers and you use the internet to access it remotely. So, you don't need to uninstall or reinstall it. If it is not working as it should, you may possibly have a corrupt cache file -- it makes all KINDS of things go wonky. Try this: clear your history, temporary files (these will take a while!) %26amp; cookies, restart the computer and retry. Email my password to my web admin?
I can't access my web host's webmail and admin tools, so I contacted their tech support. They want me to email them my login%26amp;password. They're a small company with good customer service, and I don't wanna be a douche, but isn't there something against giving away your password to anyone?
If you think I shouldn't, what's your sound reasoning?

If they truly need your login and password then you should call them directly and provide it to them and then change it immediately after the issue is resolved.
If this company is asking you to email them your information then you should seriously considuer going with a different company. If they are this lax with the security then what other areas of security are they lax with? Email is sent in what is known as "clear text" unless you specifically use a program to encrypt it... which means that anyone could intercept the email, you could accidentally send it to the wrong address, etc... etc... plus, it would remain on their servers for anyone to find regardless of whether they themseves deleted it.
If a company I did business with showed this kind of security un-awareness and gross neglect for the security of my information... I would have a serious issue with it as a security professional.

I have been asked for my account login before, but I would never give out my password. They should be able to analyze the problem through their system and see everything they need to see. If they think your problem may be your password, they should simply reset it.
Even if it is legitimate, don't send the information via email. Speak to them over the phone. If they don't offer phone support find another company! You don't want to waste time and energy trying to diagnose problems using email. There are too many reliable, low-cost hosting companies out there like www.oneworlddomains.com or www.godaddy.com that offer 24/7 phone support, to stay with someone who doesn't.

Yahoo email is NOT installed on your system. It is on the Yahoo servers and you use the internet to access it remotely. So, you don't need to uninstall or reinstall it. If it is not working as it should, you may possibly have a corrupt cache file -- it makes all KINDS of things go wonky.
