any web based emails do not support outlook, especially if free. Read the FAQ section of the site to find out more.
POP address to link a web based email to Outlook?
abjd_azeemi...is half right...yahoo or netscape or aol does not support outlook...But msn DOES..since outlook is an microsoft application hotmail and outlook express does support each other
Reply:Hmm, there are various aspects to your question, so let me approach it this way:
It depends on whether or not your web-based email provider allows the use of a pop email client or not. As previously mentioned, Yahoo!, Hotmail/MSN or AOL do not allow this (as a free service), but I believe at least Yahoo! and Hotmail/MSN offer this as part of their premium (paid for) subscription services.
Nonetheless, there are web-based email providers that allow the use of a pop mail client, such as MS Outlook or Mozilla's Thunderbird to be used ... but those providers usually have fairly clearly outlined how to make this work in their Help and Support sections. Most Internet Service Providers, such as e.g. Comcast, Bell..., or TimeWarner allow this, but also Google's gmail allows it.
Most of the time, their servers are named pop.whatever.net or mail.whatever.net and their outgoing mail servers start with smtp.whatever.net. But there are no standards as to what they can be called.
Anyhow, hope this helps shed some light on your situation !
